yeah, been there and back.... was extremely hot, it was like walking through an enormous busy oven or kitchen... i realised, that most shops had air conditioning. and so were the houses and apartments... and these air cons were built to generate hot air into the open, causing more humidity and warmth in the streets... no wonder it felt like walking through a busy kitchen with hot steam sprouting out... anyway...One thing i like about HK, the city that never sleeps.. LITERALLY... people are in the streets at midnight, with faces as bright as they were at 9pm, and the streets are extremely busy, still packed with vendors and shoppers. Giordano is opened till midnight!!! and the following morning at 8ish, 9, people are back on the streets looking all fresh and vitalised... with such extraordinary sleeping pattern, the people still managed immaculate complexion. Remarkable...
I went on a eating marathon. had constipation during the entire 5 day trip... so it was all INPUT and Negative OUTPUT. my favourite must-have food each day, was a mango drink from xuliushan and yu-dan (fishballs) from those street vendors. yums yums... had a nice refreshing drink from Mcdavis (mcdonalds) lychee drink. and my XO porky chop chuqianyiding was delicious... the dim sum was fantastic too.. those har-kao (shrimp dumplings) oh my gosh.. they were divine.. hahahaha the skin was crystal-like clear and thin, the prawns in it were huge and succelent, the multiple prawns were stuck together with an egg batter which adds extra sweetness to the dish... AAAHHHH.... divine... the shopping was ok.. lots to see, nuthing much to buy... (i was too fussy). as we (travel companion, viv and eileen), got ourselve in Central (zhong wan), we pop ourselves into ON PEDDER, cos i was so attracted by the pair of shoes on display. In we got, and i was erm... cos there was a press conference happening at the same time. I asked the manager if it was better that we came back later, as we didnt want to intrude. He was welcoming and ask us to stay for a drink and have a look around. well, we did have A LOOK around... countless TAIS TAIS, and fashionista people... I won't be surprised if we were being eyeballed... a hongkong celeb was there as well. (findin her pic now, post it later)
One thing i thought was significantly hongkongish was the architecture...
off we head to shenzhen. it was filthy and filthy... nuthin to buy there... literally nuthin... hence we spent money on manicure, and pedicure... and mineral water.. hahahaha (even the water taste filthy)... for the very first time i had manicure and pedicure... and all for just S$8.00.. why not.. and when back in HK, i had to superrush with last minute mango puddng, mango drinks shopping to bring back to loved ones.. to share the yummy food with.. and damns... i had to rush to the airport while tugging the heavy mango stuffs... i swear, i will not do that again... i almost missed my flight, it was FINAL CALL already, and i was literally the last passenger to board...
